Jamieson Retakes Points Lead
Russell Jamieson made the best of a front row qualifying position to run away to a three second victory over defending champion Gary Pegoraro in the first race of the Rockpress/Coach Design Australian Superkart Championships at Round 6 of the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals. Jamieson qualified on the front row of the grid alongside Pegoraro before outlaunching the Victorian race on the run to the first turn. Behind him battle quickly formed allowing the Coach Design Anderson-DEA to reel off a string of 1:31 lap times all the way to the chequered flag.

Pegoraro, Rowell and Haywood are the champions
Victorian racers Gary Pegoraro and Garry Haywood claimed their first Rockpress/Coach Design Australian Superkart Championships while young New South Wales racer Dalton Rowell succesfully defended his 250 National class championship after a day of hard fought racing at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. Each race win was hard fought and in a highlight of the weekend, all three classes had three-kart battles go all the way to the chequered flag in Race 4.

Pegoraro Leads Both Wet and Dry
Three practice sessions filled the first day of the Rockpress Australian Superkart Championship. Gary Pegoraro spent the day sorting the Dunlop Kartsport/BRC Engines Anderson-BRC but ended up fastest in all three sessions. The series points leader was happy with progress at the end of the day, despite limited dry-track running at Round 7 of the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals.

Pegoraro Takes Pole
Gary Pegoraro inched one step closer to the elusive Rockpress Australian Superkart Championship securing pole position at Round 7 of the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals. A 1:30.8978 for the Dunlop Kartsport/BRC Engines Anderson-BRC in the first session was enough for Pegoraro to secure pole, there was almost no movement in the second session with the temperature plummeting, clouds closing in and the headwind traveling up the front straight strengthening. Ilya Harpas will start alongside in the Your Amigo/Apex Management Anderson-DEA, the top two in the points starting the same way.

Collision Brings an Early end to Race One
The first race of the Rockpress Australian Superkart Championship was halted after a collision between Steve Myberg (Anderson-BRC) and Tony Lappas (Wizzer Engines/Superkarts Evolution SKE-BRC). With only two laps completed the race was declared a non-race with no points awarded.

ASKC ROUND 2 ENTRY CLOSED COMPETITOR LIST ANNOUNCED
A strong field in each class will ensure great racing at the final round of the Rockpress-Coach Design Australian Superkart Championships at Phillip Island in less than two weeks time.

Harpas Heads The Pack
Ilya Harpas has been racing 250 Internationals since 2007. The young Melbourne-based South Australian has had some great results in the best but that win has eluded him. His brother Yiani has taken three in the best, including a gutsy win in his Zip Eagle at Sydney Motorsport Park in 2011. Ilya Harpas now has three wins as well and sits on a perfect 60 points at the conclusion of day 1 of the 2014 Australian Superkart Championships at the Shannons National Motor Racing Championships. Harpas is driving a DEA powered Anderson Maverick for the first time this weekend. Specifically the kart Russell Jamieson raced to four wins in the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Harpas, supported by Your Amigo and Apex Management has become an extended part of the reigning champions, the Coach Design team and taken to it brilliantly. The two red and white Anderson Mavericks blocked out the front row in qualifying, Jamieson a stunning 1:27.6900, Harpas 1:28.2217 but the two were swamped at the start. Gary Pegoraro led the way in race 1, making his trademark fast start in the Dunlop Kartsport/BRC Engines Anderson-BRC. A flat battery saw Pegoraro falter and Anton Stevens (Ciscos/Art Motorsport PVP-FPE) took up the lead with Harpas close behind after the pair had run side-by-side through turn 1. A rear piston failure removed Stevens and Harpas ran to the line to take his first win.

2014 SUPERKART CHAMPIONSHIP DATES CONFIRMED
Australian Superkart National Title round dates with Shannons Series are now set

Russell Jamieson Powers to Championship Victory
Russell Jamieson became an Australian champion for the second time on September 22. He is a vastly different driver than the one who won the 125 cc title back in 2006, but this title was built on the back of the technical challenge of operating the latest Anderson Maverick and DEA engine package so far from home base in a completely different environment than Europe. It is the path, albeit with different partners, forged initially by Zip BDH team in years past and more recently by Gary Pegoraro and the extended RMR Superkarts/Wizzer Race Engines team.

Dalton Rowell Comes From Behind to Win 250 National Class
Dalton Rowell did not lead the championship until the penultimate race of the series, but once he did he had momentum and plenty of race fitness after some breathtaking racing over the preceeding three races. Although the spectre of undiagnosed damage hung over the team after a broken chain flailed the engine. Another win after a close battle and the title was his.

Jeff Reed Conquers 125 cc Class with Consistency
Jeff Reed has won the 125 cc championship twice before. He had won the championship by being fast, but more often he had been fast and lost the title. His first title had been a nerve wracking affair, breaking down he had to stand on the pit wall and hope results broke his way. He did not want that to happen again.

McIlveen Wins Race 2 but Jamieson expands his lead
Rain fell twenty minutes before the race, the track was wet but drying, leaving the teams with a choice. Jamieson, Harpas and Smith went slicks, everyone else wets. McIlveen blew them away at the start and went on to win untroubled , lapping Jamieson in the process as he struggled on his slicks. Matt Bass was a brilliant second ahead of Martin Latta and a sideways drifting Ilya Harpas.

Jamieson Wins the Championship
Gary Pegoraro threw everything at Russell Jamieson in Race 3. The gap ebbed and flowed as the two negotiated traffic and Pegoraro dived at the line but Jamieson had enough gap in hand to win race 3 and wrap up the championship a race early.

Pegoraro Flings the Gauntlet
Gary Pegoraro made the opening statement at the Rockpress Australian Superkart Championship, under the lap record as many of the classes at the Round 7 of the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals push the barriers of speed at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Jamieson Smashes Lap Record
Heading into day two of the Rockpress Australian Superkart Championships it was thought we would finally see the long-held ambition of a sub-90 second lap time at Phillp Island. After years of inching towards the time, it finally fell, but it fell in a manner not expected as Russell Jamieson pulverised the record, bypassing the 1:29 bracket completely, setting pole position with a 1:28.1232, then backing it up with a 1:28.4199 lap record on his way to a dominant five second victory over main championship rival Gary Pegoraro and Warren McIlveen.

European Vacation Mavericks in Assen
The two young Queensland drivers who have in the last two years shaken up the established order in the Rockpress Australian Superkart Championship, took a small detour on the way the Phillip Island. Defending series champion Jason Smith and current series points leader Russell Jamieson warmed up for the Phillip Island Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals by taking their Anderson Mavericks to the Netherlands.
