Championship Registration Opens

18/01/2014

The 2014 superkart nationals promises to be an exciting contest of top level superkart racing in all classes. Overseas interest is again touted with the likely appearance of UK factory team Anderson Superkarts with UK driver Gavin Bennett very keen to pit his skills at Phillip Island against current Australian champion Russell Jamieson, hard charging contender Gary Pegoraro, and competitive former champions Jason Smith and Warren McIlveen. Locally, many teams and drivers are preparing new equipment, and updating machines in anticipation of a wonderful series of competition.

CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION

Again in 2014 SKA has an optional Championship Registration scheme for competitors. It operates the same as previous years. We request that championship competitors register with a $200 deposit paid and join SKA as a racing member before February 28th in return for a discounted entry fee at the rounds. We appreciate the support of competitors who register with a deposit as it assists with pre-planning and maintains funding in the lead time to events. The Forms to return are on the SKA Website at the Events – ‘Join Superkarts Australia’ and ‘2014 Championships’ tabs.

CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT FEES

For 2014, unfortunately an increase in entry fees has been unavoidable due to the need to cover cost outlays for participation at the premier events we attend with Shannons Nationals Series. SKA operates on very limited resources and operates these events to cover outlays so as to maintain the lowest possible entry cost for competitors.  Event sponsorship is difficult to obtain in the current economic climate, and should significant support be found, a reduction in competitor fees may be seen such as subsidised pit garage costs.

SKA MEMBERSHIP POLICIES – SKA now includes a membership policy document as part of our membership process. This document pertains to membership of SKA and the events at which we participate, and outlines a member protection policy, the member responsibilities and requirements, along with a code of conduct. Cams, many sporting bodies, businesses and employers, and organisations dealing with groups of people have in place such policies that address personal interaction and conduct matters. As do most similar organisations, SKA recognises its obligations for provision of an enjoyable and safe participation environment, and duty of care responsibilities to our members and others. When joining SKA for 2014 year, you will be required to acknowledge your understanding of the policies and agreement to abide by them.  For most of us, this will not require any change other than recognition of the policies you are required to abide by.  Your past and ongoing cooperation is greatly appreciated.

SKA will appreciate superkart club secretaries forwarding this announcement to their members, thank you.  SKA will publish further championship updates when required.

We look forward to the racing and catching up with you all.

Regards SKA Team
